The Splendid Meat Company
The Splendid Meat Company is a family run business, established in 2003, located on top of the North Downs in Hucking, Kent. In addition to our own land we also farm land owned by the woodland trust. Out meat is produced from rare and traditional breeds which lend themselves to more traditional non-intensive methods of farming, being slower to mature and resulting in tender meat with a magnificent flavour.
We keep Gloucester Old Spot, Saddleback & Berkshire pigs which are all reared outdoors. We also have a flock of Portland Sheet and a flock of Soays (See Breed Profiles for more information). Our flock of Black Rock chickens provides us with delicious Free Range eggs which we supply to our catering trailers and local egg sales.
Our produce is reared to the highest welfare standards and all our feed is GM Free. We are against growth promoters, hormones or artificial sprays on our farm and never use these products. We believe that, as well as being ethical in our farming methods, it is vital to be committed to the protection of the environment. Therefore we have already implemented many green policies and will continue to do so (see 'How Green Are We?' for more details) to promote a greener future.
