The Splendid Chicken Company is brought to you by the same team as The Splendid Meat Company. Building on the success of The Splendid Meat Company we have realised that there is a real place for a top quality chicken unit in the mobile catering market. All our chicken is free range and sourced from Summerleaze Farm, a small family run farm in Somerset. Their ethos echoes our own at The Splendid Meat Company, in the way that they rear their chickens to the highest welfare standards. The result being some of the best chicken you will have tasted. Traditionally reared mean meat that many people fondly remember from years ago, for some it may be a complete revelation compared to the mass produce produce usually available.
We are finding time and again that people more than ever want to know the source of what they are eating and they know that eating on a Splendid Trailer means great tasting food that they can eat with confidence.
Our Welfare Standards
We have chosen Summerleaze Farm because they house their chickens in small groups in hen houses sited in large paddocks. The are only fed and watered outside to encourage their natural foraging for worms or insects. They are fed a maximum of 80% organic feed with no growth promoters or hormones, any treatment is homeopathic. The chickens are reared, killed and processed on the farm eliminating any travel stress. They are dry plucked in the traditional way for the best possible finish. We truly believe that this is some of the finest chicken being reared in the UK and are prooud to be able to offer this to you in our unique Splendid Chicken unit.
